Pause for Thought: Hope

The second concert in the series focuses on Hope. Barbara Pachl-Eberhart and Ulrich Reinthaller join the Vienna Boys Choir in a quest for words and music designed to give us hope.

Poems and thoughts by Martin Buber, Hilde Domin and others are juxtaposed with the sung Mass ordinary and other standard sacred texts - Pachl-Eberhart and Reinthaller show how the sung texts can (and probably should) be taken personally. In addition to Haydn's Mass in G, the choir sings hopeful pieces by Monteverdi and Caldara, short excerpts from Gerald Wirth's "Der Bettelknabe", and the spectacular "Kainawad naad", an Arapaho ghost dance.
