Carmina austriaca

The oldest extant music from Austria composed anew
The "Carmina Austriaca", Austrian songs, are Austria's answer to Carl Orff's famous "Carmina Burana", songs from the medieval Abbey in Beuron, Germany. Music historian and author Michael Korth has selected texts by famous minstrels, like Walther von der Vogelweide, Neidhart von Reuenthal, Oswald von Wolkenstein, and translated them into modern German, and Gerald Wirth, president and artistic director of the Vienna Boys Choir, has transformed and translated the original music into something very much his own.

On 1 February, the Vienna Boys Choir, Chorus Juventus, and the Schubert Academy Orchestra will perform a chamber music version of "Carmina Austriaca", complete with dancing by "Das Collectif".
