Advent at the Imperial Chapel

During the quiet season of advent, we sing Renaissance masses without orchestra. On the second Sunday of Advent, the Chapel Imperial performs "Missa canonica" by Jacobus Gallus, who sang with and wrote for the chapels of Holy Roman Emperors Maximilian II and Rudolph II.

On the third Sunday of Advent, the Chapel performs another of Gallus's settings of the Mass ordinary, the "Missa ad imitationem Pater noster" for four-part double choir.
