Haydnchor Goes China
The Vienna Boys Choir will visit the People's Republic
of China from 16 September to 8 October; the boys are set to appear in Nanjing, Hangzhou, Chongqing, Guangzhou, Zhengzhou,
Beijing, Shanghai, and Xiamen. They are looking forward to lots of sightseeing, and to meeting children their age.
Their concert programmes on this tour include classical favourites by Mozart, Mendelssohn, Schumann, and Dvorak, as well as pop songs, typically Viennese music, and of course, songs from the host country, China. Choir boy Paul hopes that "people understand our Chinese pronunciation", choir boy Adrian hopes to add a few Chinese sentences to his repertoire. "I can only say thank you at the moment, and hello." They are looking forward to the Great Wall of China, and "lots of delicious Chinese food!".
