Coronavirus: Vienna Boys Choir affected
Following the Regulations given out by the Austrian Government on 10 March 2020,
the Vienna Boys Choir have had to cancel their upcoming tours of the Netherlands, Belgium, Denmark, and Hungary, as well as
all appearances in Austria until 3 April 2020. Services in the Imperial Chapel have been suspended. These are tough measures
for the Choir, a non-profit organisation which relies on the income from concerts.
The Choir's president, Gerald Wirth, remarks, "The crisis affects everyone. For us as an educational institution and as artists, it is paramount to protect the health and safety of the children in our care, of our staff, and of course our audience. At the same time, we remain optimistic about the measures taken. And music can help; it is an essential part of life."
The School's headmaster, Hans-Christian Granaas confirms, "We are monitoring the situation, and will follow the recommendations given by the health authorities. If possible, we are hoping to be able to hold the concerts at a later date."
Further information will be posted on this site as it becomes available.
