CANCELLED DUE TO SEVERE WEATHER CONDITIONS - "O sole mio"

Open Air Special at Vienna's Theater im Park

WE REGRET TO INFORM PATRONS THAT THIS PERFORMANCE HAS HAD TO BE CANCELLED

We are opening our 2024-2025 season with an Open Air special in one of the newest and probably most spectacular locations in Vienna - "Theater im Park" is located in Vienna's fourth district, in a secluded walled garden, privately owned by the aristocratic Schwarzenberg family. It was opened as an open air location in 2020.

"O sole mio" pays - of course - hommage to Bella Italia; we have selected a smorgasboard of popular favourites to give you a taste of Italy, and all sounds Italian: besides the eponymous hit by Eduardo di Capua basking in the incomparable Neapoltan sun, you will hear music from operas by Giuseppe Verdi and Pietro Mascagni, music written for the Venetian carneval in the late Renaissance, as well as film music by Ennio Moricone: "Nella fantasia". Hum along to Domenico Modugno's "Volare", and you will likely find your hands and feet twitching as the choir intones Bob Merill's "Mambo italiano", originally written in New York's Little Italy for Rosemary Clooney, famously also sung by Sophia Loren.

Manolo Cagnin conducts.

Tickets are available through the Theater im Park website.
