Salieri in D

In Salieri's anniversary year 2025, the Chapel Imperial honours its former director with various performances; this Sunday, we will perform the so-called ‘Hofkapellmeistermesse’ (Court Kapellmeister Mass), the Mass in D. Jordi Casals conducts.

The Mass in D major was probably composed in 1788 for the Chapel Imperial on the occasion of Emperor Joseph II's return from the Turkish Wars. Salieri had just been made court kapellmeister.
